Caledonia High School Athletics

The Caledonia ladies track and field team had an excellent Saturday coming home with the championship trophy at the Kathy Talus Memorial Invitational at Lowell High School. Leading the ladies team as medalists were as follows: 3200m Relay- 2nd, Tiona Sakala, Anna VanderWal, Charlie Bont, Elise Clarin 800m Relay- 2nd, Mariah Peterson, Brooke Bender, Addisyn Gerken, Isla Sheely 400m Relay- 1st, Averi Rosted, Addisyn Gerken, Isla Sheely, Brynn Ward 1600m Relay- 1st, Isabelle Horning, Isla Sheely, Evie Huttenga, Brooke Bender Sprint Medley Relay- 2nd, Mariah Peterson, Aibree Akers, Addison Cook, Isabelle Horning Distance Medley Relay- 1st, Tiona Sakala, Kendall VanRyn, Elise Clarin, Akaela Daman Discus Relay- 2nd, Mackenzie Krentz & Hannah Holmes (Mackenzie was also the overall champion in the discus event!) Shop Put Relay- 3rd, Mya Vanderzand & Mackenzie Krentz High Jump Relay- 2nd, Abigail Tava & Addison Gerken Pole Vault Relay- 4th, Anna VanderWal & Lena Gesing Long Jump Relay- 4th, Averi Rosted & Lydia Spees 100m Hurdles- 1st, Olivia Hawkins; 2nd, Melanie Genao Grullon Olivia broke the junior class record in the 100m Hurdles (previously held by Jill Harrison, 15.64, 1984) running a time of 15.58! 300m Hurdles- 1st, Olivia Hawkins; 4th, Melanie Genao Grullon 100m Dash- 1st, Brynn Ward; 2nd, Averi Rosted Brynn broke her own school record of 12.72 in the 100m dash two separate times.
